Don't have any props? Substitute ideas are provided in Class Confirmations.
If additional props are needed they will be listed in the Class Confirmation.
Attire & Clothing:
Classes may warm up the body & work up a sweat. We recommend wearing clothes that you will feel comfortable in & have full range of movement in. Typical form fitting workout clothes tend to help assist. Some may prefer looser fitting clothes, however some of these clothing choices may interfere with your ability to focus or achieve certain movements. Skin equals grip when it comes to pole dancing. We recommend that the shoulders, knees, and sides of the body are exposed, such as shorts and a tank top or sports bra or erotic dance wear. However if this makes you uncomfortable accommodations can be made. We ask, regardless of the clothing style you rock, attempt to keep all private areas & genitals of the body covered during Online & In-person classes. Thongs and linger are A-Okay; Heels & Bare-feet are both welcomed in classes for pole dancing.

You may be asking, "Is Pole dancing right for me?" "If I am interested in pole dance, why should I use this a Yoga + Dance Studio?" "What even is Pole Dancing or Pole Fitness?"
Pole dancing can be done in many forms. The beauty of pole dance is having the complete freedom to pick your own intention and styles for your practice. A few examples of ways to pole dance include: Pole dancing as a form of exercise/sport or as a form of athletics, you may use pole dancing as a way to get in touch with your sensual and sexual energy, you may use pole dance as a way to get back in touch with the youthful feeling of playing/climbing & exploring your limits, you may use pole dancing as a form of career or to make a living.... the purposes of pole dance are personal and endless. Pole dancing is inclusive to both men and woman and have roots in all genders and areas of the world throughout history. In our studio we like to view pole dancing not only as a wonderful workout and way to transform the external body, we recognize the internal transformation pole dancing can bring as a result from getting in touch with your body, increasing your strength and building your confidence.
While pole dancing, you may find your self often doing similar movements found in Asana
[Yoga poses] ...just with a vertical prop [the pole] included. While immersing ourselves into dance, there is definitely a "dancer zone" you may find yourself getting into while you dance. Which may arguably hold resemblances of a "meditative state" or "flow". Meaning that you are entirely "lost in the dance". To us the two styles of Yoga and Pole dance, go hand in hand. Utilizing dance as a form of self expression, self connection and moving meditation.
Unlike yoga the roots and origins of pole dance are a bit less clear and heavily debated. From philosophies of origin from India, much like Yoga, to areas such as China, Russia, Africa and was practice in many Ancient Cultures for many years. This style of dance, much like yoga, has become more modernized as time has progressed. As pole dance transformed away from more Male Dominated & Cirque Based Performance it's found a way into show girl routines, clubs, and strip performances around the world. As some cultures have always used Pole Dance as a way to tap into and utilize your sensual energy, this evolution makes sense! Due to the stripping industry, and those who were willing to share their talents and teachings with the common population, Pole dancing has become more accessible and mainstream. Through the strength of a few, now many get to reap the benifits of Pole Dance & Pole Fitness. It is very important to not ignore the progress and connection that Pole Dancing and Pole Fitness has with the stripping community. It is important to stand together to break the stigma surrounding pole. Erotic Dance work is not meant for everyone....and that is ok! If you only pole dance for fitness, that is ok! However it is important that we ALL support ALL pole dancers and do not further stigmatize, "other" or hurt our fellow Pole Family and respect the history of our hobby/passion! Pole studios are becoming more widely accepted around the world and together we can help continue to break down the walls and stigmas surrounding our participation and love for pole dance and pole fitness!
We aim to reconnect students to the roots of their dance practice and break the stigma that dance must ONLY be done as a form of work out or must ONLY be done as sexual routine. Dance can be WHATEVER dance means to you!! We believe that pole dance can be a spiritual practice and journey that teaches you many life long lessons. Dance may be used as a way to move the soul, process your emotions, challenge your abilities and experience growth as a person. Pole dancing is a very personal journey that may be used to express your energy and help you learn/ grow in a variety of ways outside of class time, assisting in transforming you into the best version of yourself. A version of you who is motivated to reach your fullest potentials! Dance is a powerful form of expression and may be used as a way to release stress or reconnect to your self. Many use dance as a unique form of moving/active meditation. Pole dance is often also used solely a way to work out, gain strength, get in shape.... and that is TOTALLY OKAY TOO!! There is no true right or wrong way to pole dance; Regardless of your intentions are, what goals you hope to achieve when pole dancing and no matter what energy you bring to the pole; we believe that pole dance is a wonderful way to:get in touch with your confident self, connect with your emotions. embrace you sensual side, build strength and stay in shape. Don't let anyone tell you you are wrong for doing what you love!
THIS STUDIO CREATES A STIGMA & JUDGEMENT FREE ZONE! We do NOT judge any dancer, dance style or dancer's background. We ask all students do the same for each other. We do not allow any slut shaming, stigmatizing, bullying, mocking or any other type of negative behavior in our studio/class space.

Alyssa enjoys teaching a wide range of classes. Finding variety important, she tries to provide students a well rounded practice. From fast-paced & high energy classes to slow paced & more detailed classes, regardless of the class style, she invites students to understand the motivation & "WHY" behind the practice instead of simply the "HOW". Alyssa is very well versed in flexibility & strength training! She finds joy in challenging herself both physically & mentally, she hopes to provide opportunities in class for students to challenge themselves as well. She believes in encouraging authenticity & acceptance of self in classes. She focuses on the potential psychological benefits of yoga. Alyssa believes in using the body as a way to get in touch with the subconscious & find self-reflection. Alyssa strives to find more approaches to making Yoga & Meditation potentially less triggering & more inclusive, so all may be able to receive the possible mental health benefits of Yoga.
Protocol & Class Policies:
Kinetic Connection both follows and enforces protocol to keep you safe. Please, adhere to the following rules as a way to show your support to both the studio and your fellow yogi's / dancers.

Students may wipe down their props with provided alcohol at any point of time during class.
All shared props & equipment are cleaned before & after classes. Feel free to bring any of your own props that you would like to use during class. Please clean any surfaces, equipment or props that you may dirty, or as you feel necessary through out class per your individual comfort.
